Toys

Dear Santa,

How is that cold weather over there in the North Pole?  I am happy that you're going to come this year and I hope you don't sleep too late.  This is Grace writing this.

What I want very much for Christmas is a Lalaloopsy doll.  It looks fun on TV and I have a good imagination for it.  Another thing I want is a pretend donut shop.  I want a donut shop because I have a good memory to tell people what kind of donut it is.  And with it I am hoping for all kinds of different donuts.  My favorite kind is a mint chocolate chip donut.  I want a couple stuffed elves because its Christmas and that's good for the holiday.  Elves are for Christmas.  Santa, I want a beach set too and I want it to come with an umbrella and pretend seashells and pretend sand and a pretend ocean.   It will remind me of summertime and I'm in a beachy mood right now.  I want an Oscar-shaped nutcracker that's green.  For Zara I want a Slimy (like the worm) little chewy toy.  And I want glitter.  I want to make super special crafts sparkly, especially the one I'm sending to Grandma and Grandpa.  I want a cool basketball because Daddy and I will think its cool.  I also want a Backpack doll and a Map doll because I want to have more Dora stuff.

Santa, I hope you have a good trip in the sleigh.  I'll keep my listening ears on when I'm sleeping so I can hear your reindeer.

Love,
Grace

The World is Made of Poems

The Silly Watermelon

I squeezed a watermelon
and there wasn't any juice coming out.
I wonder what happened
to my watermelon?
Perhaps my little sister.

The Nail Polish Dance

I was putting nail polish on my nails
only if you know why.
Perhaps I'm getting ready
for the nail polish dance.
The nail polish dance?
Whoo hoo!
And I danced
at the nail polish dance.

Drippy Ice Cream

I went to the ice cream parlor
to get some ice cream.
When the ice cream parlor
was holding my ice cream
it dripped.
When she was giving it to me
it dripped.
When I was holding it at the table
it dripped.
And when I licked it
it dripped.
Drippy drippy ice cream.

Broken Glass

I was washing a glass at the sink
and I dropped it
and it broke.
Perhaps my mom was mad.
I hit my mom.
(Editor's note: I asked Grace, "Do you want people to read this and think you hit your mom?" to which she replied, "No ... I'll tell them it's just a poem.")

My Puppy Poodle

I had a poodle
and I was walking it.
My poodle screamed at me
and I said, "Shhh,"
and he calmed down.
He was running away
and I said, "Come back,"
and he came back.
He was running in the grass
and I said, "Time to go in,"
and he went in the house.

Great Feast at Little Path

We had a Thanksgiving Feast today at school.  We made pizza.   We got dough and put it in flour and that was the pizza dough we used to make our pizza.  Yum!  We put it on a tray and decorated them with sauce, cheese, pepperoni, peppers and mushrooms.  [Another child] made a pizza but she didn't eat it because she had to leave because she was naughty and her mom made her go home.  I ate her pizza.  It had cheese and mushrooms. I think Mom ate mine and she shared with Zara.  Zara is my little sister.

I taught Zara all about Little Path.  I taught her how to wheel a truck on the floor and walk in Little Path.  And I taught her the days of the week and how to count.  Adeline thought Zara was a cutie.  Zara played with the little truck because I taught her how to wheel it and she just wheeled the big truck a little tiny bit.  When we left Zara went and hung out with Liam right before we went home.

Garbage Town

There was a lady named Annie.  Annie was a very nice girl and she had a best blue hat, and Garbage DeVil came and he threw everything away in everyone's house, even Annie's best hat!  Annie wanted to go outside one day and she needed a hat, and she realized she didn't have any best hat or any hat or coat or gloves to go outside.  Annie said, "Oh my!  I can't go outside.  But I really wish I could in the snow."

Well, Garbage DeVil was taking a bath and he hopped in the garbage.  And then he hopped in the garbage to sleep.  He opened his eyes all night and his eyes went up to outer space.  Annie was in bed and she was snoring and sleeping and suddenly the garbage walked away.  And the garbage disappeared.  And the garbage walked on every single moon and jumped moon-to-moon.  And there was a giant and his name was Garbage DeVil and Garbage DeVil was green.  And that was who slept in the garbage and took a bath in the garbage.  Suddenly, the garbage slid down a slide.  All that was inside Annie's house was a little tiny drip of a little J-Chew Jelly drip.  When the giant woke up he saw garbage in his tanks!

Hailey was a very young girl.  And Hailey knocked on the door of Annie's house.  Annie went to the store once and she bought a JoAnn Chocolate and suddenly she saw Garbage DeVil!  And Garbage DeVil took Annie and put her in his garbage tank.  And Annie dropped her chocolate.  And her shiny medal shined on her shirt.  And an earring made of garbage fell off of Garbage DeVil.  Hailey walked away into the neighborhood and there was another very little girl named Maggie and Maggie was Hailey's friend.  And Hailey ran after Maggie, and Maggie's pinky finger was red.  It was a drip, a very little tiny drip, of Annie's jelly from her chin.  And what happened is, it was raining and what was coming down from the rain was chocolate!  Everyone picked up the chocolate and Garbage DeVil put all the chocolate in his garbage tank.  Annie was in the garbage tank and she took her best hat from the garbage tank and tip-toe sneaked to her house.  Suddenly, Annie's mom came to Garbage DeVil and poked him really hard on the belly with a sword and put the sword down his throat and threw it and made sure it collected all his body.  The mom came back to Annie and Annie came back to her mom and they slept in their own beds and Garbage DeVil was no more.  There was no more visiting Garbage DeVil again.

They made a glue craft out of Garbage DeVil's body.

The End.

Movie Getting Watched

Today I went to a movie theatre with Daddy.  We were going on a date.  We went to the movie theatre to watch Nemo.  I brought candy in my purse.  I brought sour worms, gummi bears and I got popcorn at the movie theatre.  In this picture, this is me with my Nemo glasses on pretending to eat a piece of real popcorn.  And that was the popcorn I got at the movie theatre.  I was wearing Nemo glasses so the movie could pop out at my eyes and show that I could just grab it from the cieling.  I had 3D glasses.  The man that made our popcorn and Gatorade was nice because he put lots of butter on my popcorn.  My popcorn tasted good.

Finding Nemo is the one where the mean lady went in the room and the dentist and that mean lady were the villians.  I liked the movie.  My favorite part of the movie was when Marlin and Dory got eaten by the whale.  They fell off the tongue.  I thought that was funny.

I was really happy at the movies because I liked the movie and Dad did too.  But Dad had to give his glasses back and I could keep them.

Vacation Orchard

Last week Mommy, Daddy, Zara and I went to Maine.  Aunt Gina and Kevin came too.  We ate lobster, salmon and grilled shrimp.  It was yummy.  One of the nights when I ate lobster, it was terrible (just one).  But I liked every other piece of food except the pasta salad.  It was terrible.  I had one clam of Kevin’s.  It was yummy.

I loved relaxation and watching movies in the car.  Zara was whining in the car.  She didn’t like it even one bit.  We tried giving her toys; she did not want them and just cried.
In Maine we saw a horse and I got to pet it on the side.  I also played with Zara in our house.  Our house had a huge lobster statue in a brown crate.  I slept in a tower.  Some days it was raining in Maine.  The other days it was sunny.  On the sunny days we went to the beach.  We put sun tan lotion on first (Editor's note: We did not put suntan lotion on our children! It was sunblock).  We made sandcastles and went in the ocean.  I liked the ocean.  The ocean was splashy.  I didn’t run into any boats.  I was always with Daddy, Mommy, Aunt Gina or Kevin.  Vacation was fun, especially the eating.
When I got home I asked Grandma if she wanted to go to Maine.  She said, “Yes, maybe next time I can live in the house next door to you in Maine.”  When I got home I was happy to see all my toys and I played “Applebee’s.”
I had fun in Maine.  Thank you for making Maine, God.

Naughty Doctors

I was in the car going to the doctor's for my check-up.  First they weighed me and then they measured me.  I weighed 31 pounds. I had to pee in the pee-catcher.  Then I got shots and I cried.  Then I got an Ariel sticker.  And then they put a Band-Aid on the shots.

Daddy took me to Wegman's when I was done at the doctor's.  We bought stuff for stuffed shells and bread.  When we got home I baked bread.   I went home and told Mommy all about it.  Mommy said, "Oh, you poor baby."

I was trusting God to help me be brave at the doctor's.  We are going to have shells for supper.  I have to go help Daddy make them.

I didn't like the doctor's at all.  But it was fun anyway.  And I have a nice playhouse.  Amen.

Aunt Melissa's Fun Time

Yesterday I was in the car with Daddy and we were going to Home Depot.  And we drove all the way to Home Depot.  When we were there we bought some Behr Paint.  And then we paid our Behr Paint and got in the car and we drove to Arby's.  I had swirly fries and a beef sandwich.  I drank chocolate milk.

Then we went over to Aunt Melissa's house.  Daddy dropped me off there.  I was feeling scared and happy.  I was scared because I thought Daddy was going to leave me there forever and I was happy because Daddy left me.  I went upstairs and went to the bathroom and used some watermelon soap to wash my hands and it smelled really good.  I went into the playroom and we played Ping Pong the Witch.  And then we played Chex Mix O'Wex Mix.  And then we played Places.  We read The Witch, the Cat and the Baseball Bat.  It was a good book.  We got some balls and brought them downstairs and played the Mice game downstairs and played Kerplunk downstairs.

We came upstairs and went into Aunt Melissa's bedroom and got out the bells.  There were a lot of bells and they used to belong to Grandma Louise.  One got broke but it was kind of loose.  The glue wasn't very dry and the ringer fell off.  Mrs. Bell Lady came over and I left (Editor's Note: Grace became "Mrs. Bell Lady") and it was the bell show time. We sang a song at the bell show time and then Isabelle, Aunt Melissa's cat, told Aunt Melissa to sing loud at the show.  And then she got in trouble and got in time out because she wasn't supposed to be singing loud in the show.  Then she lost a bell because she was naughty.

Molly, Aunt Melissa's dog, was locked up.  Then Aunt Melissa sent her out and she ran after me.  I was scared of Molly.

Aunt Melissa gave me a present--a wind thing.  You have to roll it with your hands and then let it go as you're rolling it and then it flies and drops.  And we went to Uncle Skip's and Aunt Sarah's and gave one to Myles and Cason too.  We gave them a pink one because I wanted the orange one.  And then we went home and had dinner.  I had sausage and zucchini and blue potatoes, but they really looked purple.

I had a fun time at Aunt Melissa's playdate.

Oscar's Clean Yard

Oscar got some trash out of his trash can, and he threw it all over the yard.  And then he covered dirt all over the trash and then stuck the rotten banana in.  Oscar covered dirt on the waterfall and the waterfall turned into dirt.  Oscar scraped the handy gloves on the ground and then made a big "Raaaar" (Editor's note: Loud, scary roaring sound!).

Big Bird came over to Oscar and Oscar gave Big Bird a broken weight.  And Big Bird threw the broken weight back to Oscar and Oscar got a so big toss and tossed it back in his trash can.  It was nighttime and Oscar slept in his trash can.  All that stuff that Oscar got for Christmas (he got all junky trash) and he was happy.  He was happy because he had it.

Grover came over and asked for some of Oscar's trash and Oscar said, "No! You can't have any of my trash!"

"But what about the rotten banana?" said Grover.

And Oscar said, "All right you can have all my whole trash can."  And Grover got out a big garbage bag and got all the trash from the trash can and Oscar had a nice clean, crummy trash can to sleep in.  No trash.  And he was comfortable.

Do You Want Freckles?

I just finished reading a book called Freckle Juice.  I got this book from Grandma's cellar.  Daddy had this book when he was little.  Aunt Gina and Mommy loved that book when they were little.  I read it with Mommy.  There were five chapters in the book.

I thought Freckle Juice was good.  Sharon gave Andrew the recipe for Freckle Juice.  It was yucky.  It was gross.  But Andrew drank it so he could get freckles.  He woke up and he had no freckles.  Andrew put marker on his face so he could get freckles and Miss Kelly used the formula on him.  And then she said, "I hope I never have to use it again on you."

Grandma and Daddy have freckles on their arms.  And Grandma has some on her face.  I want to have freckles but I don't want to drink the freckle juice!  You can use glue for freckles.  You put glue dots all over your face.  And then you have freckles and you can do it whenever you want.  Freckles are a very interesting thing.  Freckles are great.

Magic Bullet Kick

I drew this picture on the computer.  Mommy's hand is blending the Magic Bullet.  I also wrote the Magic Bullet password.  The password makes it so people can use it.

A Magic Bullet is a blender for baby food.  Mommy was using and using the Magic Bullet to make Zara's baby food and banana strawberry smoothies.  And when Mommy was making Zara's baby food one day, she broke it.  She was using it and she heard a noise and the Magic Bullet was all broken.  Mommy was sad.  She had to use the blender and throw away the Magic Bullet.  The blender made even louder noise than the Magic Bullet.  The Magic Bullet was great.

But there is nothing better than my kitchen set.

Balloony Color-titis

Yesterday I went to Myles and Cason's birthday party.  They were turning two.  On their next birthday they're going to be three...the same age as me!  But I'm not going to be three when they're three.  I'm going to be four.  Happy birthday to Myles and Cason!

At the birthday party I was playing with a purple and yellow balloon.  I was playing Fly Away, Fly, Fly, Fly.  I fly up to the sky by holding on to all of the balloons (because I was playing with more) and all the balloons lift me up. And then I ate my cake and ice cream and watched Myles and Cason open their gifts and they were brand new.  I bought them sandbox toys in a wagon, dinosaurs, and squirt guns.

It was time to leave so Aunt Sarah gave me a balloon.  She gave me a red one, a yellow one and a blue one.  And then we left.  We were in the car and I said, "I want my blue balloon" all the way home.  When we got home Daddy gave it to me.

The next day I drew a picture of balloons.

Playground start

Grandpa and Daddy built me a playset.  It took them a looong time and they got sweaty.  And I was waiting for my playset to be done.  Daddy peeked in the house and said, "I need a slide tester!"  And Grandpa said when I got out there and went on my slide, "You're the first one to go on your slide."  I loved going on the slide.  And it was dizzy and twirly.  I felt a little dizzy when I got down from it.  Soon I had a whole play area.

I saw a dead spider in a spider web on the top level.  Then I invited Mommy up to see it.  Mommy came up and looked at the spider web.  She shooted the spider out and then went down the slide.  Mommy liked the slide.

Thank you Grandpa and Daddy for building my playset.

Aunt Melissa

Not too long ago I had a playdate with Aunt Melissa.  I brought Busy Town to Aunt Melissa's.  When we were walking across the road I picked Aunt Melissa a dandelion.  And the first thing we did on our playdate was play the mice game.  You hide the mice and somebody tries to find them, and Aunt Melissa tried to find them.  And then we played Busy Town.  Aunt Melissa read the instructions.  After we played Busy Town we went upstairs and played with some of the toys, like a dress-up doll.  And then we went outside.  We planted sunflowers.  We saw Aunt Sue before that.  I told Aunt Melissa about when I went to California.  On the way home I was still telling her the story.  When I got home we talked to Aunt Melissa a little bit and then I ate my cheesy and chicken sandwich that Daddy made me.

I felt happy about my playdate.

The Chocolate Touch

I just finished reading this book.  It is called The Chocolate TouchThe Chocolate Touch is my favorite book because all of the things John Midas eats turns to chocolate.  And he's angry about it because he doesn't want it to happen.  At first he liked chocolate but then he didn't because it was getting worse and he wanted to eat other food.  Even when he ate his lunch in the cafeteria, it turned to chocolate.  The piece of chocolate made it happen.  And when he drank the milk it turned to sweet, creamy milk.  And John liked it.  Later he turned his mom to chocolate when he kissed her.  He ran back to the baker's store and came back and his mother was un-chocolate.  John Midas is nice.

I read the book with Mommy.  We borrowed it from the library.

Butterfly Party

This picture makes me think of the Butterfly Party.  Mommy and I found this picture on butterfly.org (Editor's Note: No we didn't.  It was a Google image search).

The Butterfly Party is tomorrow.  We are going to have two butterfly parties, one with Mom and Dad and one without them.  Mom will be at the butterfly party here and I'll be at the one at Grandma's.  Nana will sew a gown for the butterfly party.  It will be pink and the butterfly party will be great!

At the party, we eat.  The people who sit outside will eat pretend food, and the people who sit inside will eat real food.  The real food is the stuff Granda's going to buy from our shopping list.  The pretend food is the stuff me and Grandma made on the deck.

Everybody in our neighborhood is going to be invited to the Butterfly Party.  We will play funny games like Ping Pong the Witch!  We are going to sing silly songs like Chex Mix O'Wex Mix and we're going to have a show, one's for the girls and one's for the boys.  On Bluebird Day we are going to whisper all day so the birds can come out.  Thank you.

We are going on Pray Day to put our hands on our head and pray.  That's when we're thanking the butterflies for being here for half our life because Vanessa sat on them.  When she sat on them, they died.  All of the butterflies died except for Housie and Maple.  That is why we have a Butterfly Party.  I have two babies that will make four butterflies.  Their names are Sippy and Nellie (and Housie and Maple).

If people need to use the bathroom at the Butterfly Party, they can.  Just make sure they don't miss a lot of fun, they just miss a little.

Sprinkles!

This is a picture of me eating ice cream.  It was mint with gummy bears.  I like it because I saw it and it looked good!  The gummy bears are my favorite gummies!  I was at Sprinkles on my field trip with Little Path.  I was happy.  I like Sprinkles because their ice cream is nice and cool.  When I go to Sprinkles I see Paul and Debbie.  They are very nice!  They always give us fresh ice cream.  All I'm dreaming about is Sprinkles.
